Matthew TeBos-Photo Essay
I have chosen to do a small business that one of my mom's friends has started. The company is Clara Cookies and they make protein energy cookies. And this collection of photos is when I went up to where the team of 8 to 10 women makes the cookies. The cookies are made in Camp Rogers kitchen actually, which was cool to walk around in and see these being made right in front of me.
This first picture is of the fearless leader, Rebecca Cruttendon. She thought of this whole idea a few years ago and really wanted to make this dream of hers a reality. She is also a part of an organization called Team Orphans, where they raise money for adoption grants for people who can't afford to adopt a child.
Ok, so I'm gonna try to go in order of what happens in the process from flour to actual cookie. So I actually really like these cookies, I think they are really delicious and give you lots of natural energy that other cookies couldn't give you. This is the beginning stages of where the dry ingredients are mixed and then after that, they get mixed into a large mixer with the wet ingredients.
This is what the cookies look like after they come out of the large mixer. Now, I also noticed another thing when I was there. The women there were amazingly nice and they all got along with each other quite well. Rebecca gathered a team of great women to help her with making all these different cookies. The community was really nice and welcoming which I thought was awesome.
Now, these 3 photos kind of go together because there are, apparently to me several different ways of achieving the same goal to make the cookies. One method is to get out a scale and roll the dough into little balls and then weigh them. The next way (or the 3rd pic) is the route I would go for speed and efficiency. Getting a rolling pin and using a cookie cutter to speed up production.
This photo shows a bit more as to how the production flow/line works in a bigger view. The next few pictures will describe the rest of the finishing steps of the cookie creation.
Here are some of the boxes that the cookies go in to be transported or showed off at an event. They make several of one box for that particular flavor that the team is currently focusing on.
And finally! When the cookies come out of the oven, they look like this! Then they package the cookie and when/if an event comes up or a new business that Rebecca can take the cookies to and tell people the story of how they came to be and how all the cookie sales go right toward Team Orphans to help the costs of the adoption grants.
And that is my essay/story on how these amazing cookies are created and spread to the people and how the money from these cookies are going toward such a great cause.
