Shylia Fletcher - Photo Essay 1

The CityLinc in Battle Creek, Michigan does so much for their community, but the one thing I focused on was the foster care and adoption service from this organization. I've chosen this organization because it is Christian based and is placed in a rural community. I found their organization interesting because I've always been curious on how an adoption program run. I was not able to touch based on a lot of things due to the fact that it had to stay censor but the information that I did receive was quite intriguing and informational.
The street it is on is midpoint from the suburbans and the hood basically. The people in this organization does so much, so I focused on them and their individuals jobs. They were inspiring and super down to earth. They loved what they do and they enjoy coming to work everyday.
Dale Boyer, the main man of the office, who allowed me to come take pictures makes it possible for the foster children who have separation anxiety get the things they left behind. The desk he is holding is going to be sent to the young girl it belongs to in Florida. She was just reunited with father but this desk is the only thing she owns in the world. Dale uses his own money to send things such as these to the children they belongs to. He finds joy in being able to reunite them to the children who has nothing else and it is the only thing that keeps them anchor in this world.
Joy, she's the office manager. She answer the door and make sure everything is squared away in the office.
The bags Joy was talking about are from donors to the foster children. The bags consist of a toothbrush kit, a blanket, a teddy bear and gloves. The bag is given to the foster children that come in with nothing.
Terry is the book keeper who job is to pay bills, do payroll and deposit financial taxes.
This is Terry again doing bills and calculating payments.
Emma is in control of the Stuff-the-Bus organization where she has to put boxes around the community to get people involved with donating school supplies and backpacks so that they can go to children who needs them in the community. Her main objective isn't just the foster children but the children in the neighborhood as well.
A poster board the organization is working on that showcases what their organization is all about.
The room that holds all the closed cases of the foster children who have founded a home or was reunited with their families.
June receives flowers all the time from the people she helps. She is a adoption case worker.
Lois is a licensing specialist that also investigates home when a foster family wants to take in a foster child. She make sure the house is decent enough for the child and check out the family as well.
Nicole is a brilliant person to converse with. She is the program supervisor that make sure everyone is doing their day to day duties. She also part of organizing the closed foster care paperwork. She maintains the develop of the program.
The building of CityLinC was originally a home that was transformed into working office to provide closer services to the people in the community.
The sign of the building that list the services the organization offers.
I snapped a photo of this sculpture because I wanted to showcase the Christian based aspect of this organization. It was hanging above the printer in the office Emma works in.
